Heather Chapman Photography is looking for 4 fresh faces! I am running a contest for the cutest kid. There will be two categories and in each category there will be a first prize winner, a runner-up, and a 2nd prize winner.

Who:
*Babies- Children ages 6 months to 12mos
*Preschoolers - Children ages 3 years to 5 years.
**Please note - You can enter if your child will be within the age range in the month of November, even if your child is younger at the time the entry is made. For children that are 1 yrs old, the child can not be over 12 months old in November.

What:
*The 1st prize winners will receive a complimentary session with a $50 print credit, receive 20% off of prints, and a goodie bag filled with a few surprises!
*The runner up will be the next candidate to receive the prize for the 1st winner IF for any reason the first prize winner drops out or does not show up for their session.
*The 2nd prize winners will receive a complimentary session with a $25 print credit and 10% off of prints

When:
*The session must take place in the month of November 2010. The only exception is for the runner up. If the runner up takes the 1st prize winner’s place, the runner up will have 60 days to take the prize and book from the time of contact.

*You get to choose whether or not you’d like a studio session or an on location session.

How:
*To enter the contest, email me at heather@chapmansphoto.com a picture of your cute kid. I will be accepting entries from now until September 9th, 2010. Entries will then be put on my facebook page in an album. Voting will be done by people clicking “like” on your childs photo. You MUST be a fan to “like” a photo. Voting will take place from September 10th, 2010 to September 30th, 2010. The winners will be contacted on October 1st via email.

The statement MUST be in the email, or the entry will be null and void.

Rules:
*The session will be for the child in the photograph ONLY. No family portraits or sibling portraits will be permitted.
*Children must not have been photographed by Heather Chapman Photography in the last 12 months
*No professional images must be entered, snapshots only!
*Submitted entries must have had the photo taken within the last 60 days.
*Anyone can enter, but if the winner is not within the Southern Maryland area, the winner must be willing to travel.
*Image must be of the child you wish to enter, ONLY. No sibling portraits, unless ofcourse, the children are twins.
*Heather Chapman Photography has the right to disqualify or deny entries as she deems fit. This includes, but is not limited to copyright infringement, inappropriate conduct, behavior and content.

My little man turned 2 months old! They certainly do grow fast. Two months of age is very difficult and while I prefer to photograph newborns and then skip the rest of the months til 6 months, I am making it a point to take portraits of my little man every month. And, I wouldn’t turn down a photoshoot for a little one, no matter the age.

I was also able to capture a picture I LOVE LOVE LOVE of my 3 beautiful children. It’s going big on my wall.

I had the opportunity to photograph this same little girl as a newborn. She was such a cutie then and turned into be an adorable 6 month old. She’s coming back tomorrow morning to take a few portraits with her beautiful big cousin who is 2 1/2yrs old.

Monday night, I took the family out after dinner to Greenwell State Park. It’s been a long time since I’ve taken any portraits of the girls, and I also wanted to get atleast 1 portrait of Tristan since he turned 1 month old on Monday. It certainly was a stressful evening though. The girls decided to play in the dirt and ofcourse, Tristan decided he was hungry, cranky and tired as soon as we arrived to our destination. I didn’t get many shots but my only goal was atleast one of each child, and I achieved that.

I wanted to remind everyone that I am currently booking August sessions and in 2 weeks I will officially be off of maternity leave. If you have just had a newborn, and you would like portraits, please contact me right away so that I can get your little one a session before he/she is 3 weeks old.

Such a sweet pose I had to give it a different post processing than my usual stuff.

I know that I am still on maternity leave, but I will ALWAYS make an exception when I am “off” for a newborn session. Newborn sessions are very important and you only have such a short window to get them in for portraits. When L contacted me and asked for newborn portraits in August, I quickly made an exception for baby T and got her in here within a few days of contacting me.

Little T is absolutely adorable. She started out wide awake but after awhile we were able to get her to go to sleep and then the rest of the session was a breeze. She did very well! I hope to see her back in my studio at the beginning of 2011 for her 6 month portraits.

August is quickly approaching and I have begun to think about some special’s I’d like to run for the month of August when I return to work. I have different special’s for every age group!!!

I am also running a short newborn promotion from now until October 31st! When you book a paid newborn session, you will receive your 6 month old session FREE! After October 31st, the regular promotion of booking a newborn session and receiving a $25 gift certificate for a 6 month old session will go back into effect.

You may begin booking now for your End of Summer session. Session dates valid from August 1st - August 22nd. I have weekend sessions and weekday sessions available. I am available from 10am to 4pm for sessions. Sessions book quickly, so book yours as soon as possible!

Please notice that I will be out of town for most of September due to both of my daughter’s birthday’s. We are taking the kids to Disney World for a week and then visiting family in Florida for another week. I will not be available from September 1st - September 22nd.

On June 19th, 2010, my husband and I welcomed a new addition to our family. Our little BOY was born at 3:04am after a long and somewhat difficult labor. I am so excited to have a boy now in addition to my 2 little girls. Here are some portraits of my handsome little guy.

After getting my hair cut and colored mid last week, I felt great over the weekend! I grabbed my husband and took him into my studio to help me achieve some wonderful self maternity portraits since I only have 5 weeks to go before I reach my due date, and only 2 more weeks until I’m full term. I wanted to make sure that I had some done before the baby was born, and since I felt great, I figured it was the perfect opportunity. This week, I hope to be able to achieve some outdoor maternity portraits, but am not pushing my limits. I went over everything I could with my husband so that he knew what he needed to do to help me capture some great moments. Unfortunately, neither of my children wanted to take part in the portraits.

I do have maternity portraits in color, but these are my favorite’s and I think they look best in black and white.

Most likely, this session with myself will probably be my last session until near the end of summer time when I’ve had the baby and am feeling refreshed again!

I hope that this spring is treating everyone well so far! We’ve had our fair share of nice days, and our fair share of rather cold days as well.

I wanted to send out a reminder that as of June 10th, 2010 I will be going on maternity leave and will not be booking sessions until August 1st. If you would like portraits done before I go on maternity leave, please contact me by May 27th, 2010 to fit your session in, in time. I book 2 weeks in advance but please remember that newborn sessions will be booked right away into the nearest possible slot I have available. Newborn sessions are done before 3 weeks old, so it’s vital to get these portrait sessions booked before the baby is too old.
